Description

Valentine Tanghulu Strawberries are glossy, candy-coated strawberries with a crisp sugar shell and juicy center. Inspired by the traditional Chinese street treat, this Valentine version is romantic, eye-catching, and perfect for gifting or dessert platters.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh strawberries, washed and completely dried
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Optional: pink or red food coloring, edible glitter
  • Wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Insert wooden skewers into the strawberries and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and water. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  4. Stop stirring and bring mixture to a boil. Cook until syrup reaches 300°F (150°C) or hard-crack stage.
  5. Remove from heat and add optional food coloring if desired.
  6. Quickly dip each strawberry into the hot syrup, coating evenly.
  7. Allow excess syrup to drip off, then place strawberries onto parchment paper.
  8. Let candy coating harden for 5–10 minutes before serving.
