Description

  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Frosting

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pink or red food coloring
  • Optional: heart sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with heart-shaped or regular cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Divide batter evenly among cupcake liners, filling about ⅔ full.
  7. Bake for 18–20 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Cool completely before frosting.
  9. Beat frosting ingredients until smooth, tint pink, and pipe onto cupcakes.
  10. Decorate with heart sprinkles if desired.
