Description

Tuna Tartare is a fresh, elegant dish made with sushi-grade tuna finely diced and lightly seasoned with citrus, soy, and sesame. Bright, delicate, and flavorful, this no-cook appetizer is perfect for special occasions or a light gourmet starter.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz sushi-grade fresh tuna, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon or lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon finely diced shallot
  • 1 teaspoon capers, finely chopped (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: avocado, sesame seeds, microgreens

Instructions

  1. Using a sharp knife, finely dice the tuna and place it in a chilled bowl.
  2. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, lemon (or lime) juice, olive oil, shallot, capers, and Dijon mustard if using.
  3. Gently mix until just combined, being careful not to mash the tuna.
  4. Season lightly with black pepper.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Serve immediately or chill briefly and plate using a ring mold if desired. Garnish before serving
