  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz canned San Marzano tomatoes
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1. Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add onions and carrots; sauté for about 5 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. 3. Increase heat and add ground beef. Cook until browned evenly, about 7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. 4. Pour in canned tomatoes and red wine; stir to combine. Add oregano and basil. Let simmer on low for 20 minutes to blend flavors.
