  • 4 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
  • 6 slices baguette, toasted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté onions until golden brown (15-20 minutes).
  3. Push onions aside; add ground beef and brown until cooked through (7-10 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme, and beef broth; let simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Layer half of the toasted baguette in the baking dish, followed by half of the beef mixture and half of the Swiss cheese. Repeat layers.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil for the last 5 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
